Arrows of Light

“If you are a girl . . . you will always find ways to shoot arrows at the light.”
~~ Mariam Alimi, author and photographer

Meet the Afghan women on these pages – journalists, government ministers, teachers, artists, students, mothers, daughters, sisters – some of whom tell their stories at great personal risk to themselves and their families. Their arrows are words - words filled with the courage to keep fighting until the rights of all the girls and women of Afghanistan are restored.

IWWG Press is honored to give voice to their journeys.

The latest book published under the IWWG Press Imprint, Arrows of Light, features original stories written by Afghan women writers, some still in Afghanistan and many who emigrated after the U.S. exit and the return of Taliban rule. Several have contributed to the anthology using pseudonyms in order to keep themselves and their families safe.

These women's voices are so important right now as they start over in new countries, often having to leave their professional work and other family behind. For those still in the country, their words carry even greater importance.
